MCL’s new hydrocarbon fire resisting seal system has been vigorously tested at renowned test laboratories to the latest International Standard MSC 307 (88).
The standard requires the pipes to be loose fit to enable the bulkhead to warp and buckle and allow the piping to move naturally during the fire condition. The fire seal absorbing the deflection of the movement.
The test orientation allows the seals to be viewed from either side of the barrier for full review of the test specimens.
We tested various steel pipe sizes from ½” to 36” outside diameters in suitable steel sleeves.
For reference, we tested a 4 pipe multi-pipe penetration and elbow penetrations, as well as the more standard straight pipe penetration designs.
